Rank and organization: Captain, 2d U.S. Cavalry. Place and date: At O'Fallons Creek, Mont., 1 April 1880. Entered service at: Minnesota. Birth: Illinois. Date of issue: 27 November 1894.

Citation: Surprised the Indians in their strong position and fought them until dark with great boldness.
