Medal of Honor Recipient: Private Casper R. Carlisle

Rank and organization: Private, Company F, Independent Pennsylvania Light Artillery. Place and date: At Gettysburg, Pa., 2 July 1863. Entered service at: Allegheny County, Pa. Birth: Allegheny County, Pa. Date of issue: 21 December 1892.

Citation: Saved a gun of his battery under heavy musketry fire, most of the horses being killed and the drivers wounded.
