Medal of Honor Recipent: Private Richard J. Gage

Rank and organization: Private, Company D, 104th Illinois Infantry Place and date: Elk River, Tenn., 2 July 1863. Entered service at. Ottawa, Ill. Birth: Grafton County, N.H. Date of issue: 30 October 1897.

Citation: Voluntarily joined a small party that, under a heavy fire, captured a stockade and saved the bridge.
